Popcorn remix is starting strong...

While I was in Thailand, I was asked to work on a remix for Shrimps and Chips when I returned. I got the sample pack, and started work a few weeks back. The song is starting to totally take it's form and I am really happy... It's getting stuck in my head which usually means that a million ideas are popping in there as well. And if I can keep those flowing, then the track should write itself. I'm doing some chopping up of the vocal parts, and adding them as percussive hits... as well as using some of the spoken parts to fill space. It's got a solid techy 4-on-the-floor beat, will rich low end on the kick using a sine way triggered by a 4 kick loop, and an expander/gate that only allows the sine wave to hit WITH the kick drum of the main loop. Tuned to the track, this hits hard and I can definitely envision this track playing solidly in a club set. More later!

Girl From Cuba, 1st of the Year, madness, MADNESS

Finally figured out why Blogger.com wasn't updating my site... so now you'll *probably* see a few more posts here.

Jah Love has moved all 700 copies of Girl From Cuba, and that's a good thing! Nice to know it's made it's way around the world. I have heard talk of possibly pressing even more of the release.

Ivan-I and I started our remix of 1st of the Year. In two sessions, we nearly have a full running track. Obviously not near completion yet, but we are getting quicker at the production angle. This remix still has some of the synthy scape-atude of the original, but adds a nice gritty acid line underneath... Definitely the floor shaker of the bunch so far. I also heard the remix done by Christian Paduraru, and he did one hell of a job on it! Stoked to see this released. Time seems to be somewhere around the beginning of 2007. Neurotron are also remixing the track.

Talk of a full length CD on Jah Love. More on that later.

Started the remix of the Shrimps and Chips track as well. Still early on this one, but I'm considering doing something along the lines of Akufen with broken vocal pieces used more as percussive elements than sung elements. That could (and probably will) change though.

David Coleman remix finished, more remixes coming up...

Man I am not good at this whole update thing. Really, though. How much do you really want of my day to day life? THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT. So I catch the occasional click through every once in a while. GREAT! I'll take it.

So where am I now? Ivan-I of Dub Theory and I finished our remix of David Coleman's "Underground" which should get a release on Jah Love Recordings within the next few months at the latest.

Our remix of "A Girl From Cuba" has officially been released on Jah Love Recordings. Still no definitive release date of our remix of DJ Amit and DJ Nathan's as yet untitled track on Tarantic. I'm hearing a fall release is in order.

I just got back from a 2 week vaca in Thailand with my wife and friends. It sucked. Actually, it kicked some serious ass. But now I'm ready to get busy again.

Night Drive Music is going to release an EP with my track "1st of the Year" as well as remixes by a few artists, including M. Rahn of Convex Conkav and Trapez fame. Ivan-I and I will take a stab at remixing the tune as well, possibly going with a deep (surprise:) dubby approach. Excited to remix my own original tune!

Also doing a remix for Shrimps and Chips. And it seems Ivan-I and myself have another two remixes to complete by years end for Jah Love. Potentially one of those might be an original tune, a first for our collaborative history.

Needless to say, I'm having a great time with all the music. Stay tuned ya'all.
